1. Measure the underbust: You should take your measuring tape across the part of your chest which
will sit under your breasts so this is
below your nipples. This is where the bra band will sit.
Traditionally for genetic women
you must add 5 inches to this measurement if it is an odd number (e.g. 31
bust, + 5 = 36, or bra size 36) or 4 inches if the measurement is even (34
bust, +4 = 38, or bra size 38). However, this was based on a time when bra elastic wasn't as elastic as it is these days! A tip for those who want to use
silicone breasts is to buy a bra size
which matches or is close to your bust measurement (e.g. 38 bust = bra
size 38 or 40). This gives a snug fit which will be much more successful in
keeping your boobs securely in place! The band should provide most of the
support, rather than the straps.
2. Measure the overbust:
this determines your cup size. If you buy silicone boobs which have a cup size,
then it should be easy to pick the right cup size bra and you dont need to do
this step.
However, some boobs do not come
with cup sizes on them, or you may be growing your own! Measure the fullest part of your bust, which
will be your ribcage plus your breasts over the nipples.
3. Work out the cup size: If the measurement is the same as your underbust measurement: choose
cup size A
1 more: B
2 more: C
3 more: D
4 more: DD
5 more: E
6 more: F etc.
So if your underbust measures 40,
your overbust is 45 and you have a large frame, you need a 40DD or 42DD.
